Pilsen Liberation Festival
(military/event)On 4 May 1945 General Patton gave the order to resume the offensive in West Bohemia, and the 2nd and 97th Infantry Divisions and the 16th Armored Division pushed forward in the direction of Pilsen ....... Since 1990 the tradition has grown up of organizing an annual Liberation Festival in May. People come to the city from all over the world to welcome a spring with music and dance (everyone knows The Beer Barrel Polka), to meet American veterans and their friends and relatives, and of course to taste a unique Pilsner beer.

Antonin Dvorak Festival
(classical music)The 39th year of classical music celebration. It comprises of a series of concerts at unusual but attractive venues of the town of Příbram and the surrounding area: the Antonin Dvorak Memorial in the Neo-Renaissance Chateau in Vysoka, the Basilica at Svata Hora, The Church of St. Jacob, The Ernestinum and the Hlubos Chateau (in 1918 often used by President T. G. Masaryk as his residence). An interesting program on.

Prague International Marathon Weekend
(sport/event)A race recognized all over the world which has become a major annual event on the streets of Prague. The Prague International Marathon offers not only a competition but also a generous accompanying program. This year there will be a music festival, a carnival in the mellow Latin rhythms and bright lively colours, and other activities promoting protection of the environment. The course length is 42.195 kms and belongs to one of the most beautiful courses in the world. The starting and finishing lines are on the Old Town Square and the course leads runners past various tourist attractions and historical places, over Charles Bridge, along the Vltava and back again.

Valtice Wine Market
(hobby)A prestigious wine exhibition in its 41st year offers a competition of 879 wine samples. The tradition was founded almost 100 years ago. Since the 90th Valtice castle welcomes more and more visitors each year presenting samples of high quality wine for trade as well as public tasting. Valtice is a centre of Moravian viniculture historically. It lies in the Mikulov vineyard region neighbouring with vineyards of Weiviertel, Podluží and Velké Pavlovice. Valtice is also a seat of the most important viniculture organizations in the Czech Republic. The market is accompanied by a rich folklore program. Apart from the event, you can admire a monumental Valtice castle that is a part of Lednice-Valtice complex under Unesco heritage protection.
Prague Spring
(classical music)The 63nd International Prague Spring Music Festival has been a prestigious music event for outstanding performing artists, symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles of the world since its very beginning. From 1952 the festival has been opening with Bedrich Smetana’s cycle of symphonic poems “Ma vlast” (My Country), and it closes with the Ninth Symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven. Four and Four Days in Motion
(dance)The 13th international festival of independent alternative dance ensembles and motion theatre. The festival presents a contemporary innovative theatre projects. The particularity of the festival is to enliven objects of the Prague architecture by theatre. Projects of the festival include all genres of contemporary art (theatre, dance, music, visual art, film, video art). Each year of the festival has got its specific theme – leitmotif and about 20 performing ensembles from around the world.

Brno – Ignis Brunensis
