Palace Akropolis is an independent multifunctional space, the only one of its kind as well as space in the Czech Republic. In an environment technically and aesthetically prepared to meet the high demands of professionals and popular amongst the general public, several facilities have been united under one roof. The cultural complex, consisting of an independent theatre, a concert hall, a cinema and an exhibition space has been contributing to the wealth of cultural life in Prague for over half a decade. Reduta Jazz Club has become a legendary jazz club right from its foundation in 1958 and the only jazz club in Prague. During its more than 40 years long existence Reduta Jazz Club hosted leading Czech and Slovak jazzmen as well as world famous artists. The Jazz performances, so called "jam sessions", were not welcome by the previous communist government as the symbol of free spirit and independence. Reduta became the place where free minded people could meet as Reduta was considered to be the centre of Prague's cultural life. Reduta Jazz Club hosts many different streams and trends of jazz music: from old traditional jazz, dixiland, jazz-rock, soul up to modern jazz combining other music genres such as rhythm and blues for a repertoire change.
