Castle Svojanov, Eastern Bohemia

The castle Svojanov was originally a royal castle from the 13th century that belonged to the king Premysl Otakar II. The castle Svojanov was enlarged in the 15th century, rebuilt in the Renaissance style and after the fire in 1842 reconstructed in the Empire. Within the castle Svojanov complex you find a Tower “Hlaska“, an Old Palace, the House of Armourers, and a surrounding garden. A new Empire palace holds an exposition of the Svojanov castle history and a permanent exhibition of figural ceramics by Jan Kutalek.

The Svojanov castle trully reminds you of a typical medieval castle.
